About

Welcome!

The E.M. White Library supports the mission of Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary by providing its students, faculty, and other employees with

(1) integrated access to library resources and information technologies that facilitate their activities of teaching, learning, research, and administration, and
(2) instruction that enhances their ability to find, evaluate, and use information relevant to their vocational commitments with effectiveness and integrity.

Within the scope of this support for the mission of Louisville Seminary, the department also seeks to offer resources and instruction to Seminary alums, members of area faith communities, and the local public in support of their study of subjects related to Christian faith and practice.

The With Much Love - lptslove.org - portal was originally created to help our community's learning needs during Spring 2020. Our patrons love our beautiful and serene library. Unfortunately during COVID-19 or #HealthyAtHome as I prefer to think of it, which began on March 20th 2021 for us, the library's physical spaces and owned collections of 195,000 print information resources approximately became unavailable.

However, the Library was quickly able to pivot and continue to provide remote access to 12,284 + 250,000+ subscription ebooks, 45 electronic databases, 49 electronic resources, and 2,711 electronic journals. In Spring semester, library student workers and staff, created a number of instructional resources and videos as well to share.

With Much Love, this digital library portal continues to be streamlined in support our seminary's move from a residential classroom based teaching Seminary to one committed to finishing Summer and Fall 2020 semesters with online instruction and remote library services. Remote access to library resources, tutorials, guides, and Help Desk services are intended for registered LPTS students, faculty, and employees.

In fall 2020, the library has cut over fully to With Much Love and we have begun the process of re-imagining and re-designing traditional library services in order to meet the emerging needs while also practicing social distancing. We have negotiated and acquired new electronic resources and initiated new services such as ETextbook Reserves (required textbooks and recommended books, purchased as ebooks and made available through the library catalog in lieu of 2-hr print reserves), Ask a Librarian (daily online chat with screen-sharing); classes, orientations and research consultations using Zoom video conferencing, and most recently Book Hub contact less print book borrowing and scanning services.  On March 1, 2021 a couple of weeks shy of the COVID19 shutdown of our campus, the library moved into Phase 3 of Safe and Responsible Reopening: In-building services ONLY for LPTS students, staff, and faculty and ONLY with confirmed reservations and appointments. New services include study carrels and reference room for quiet study use by appointment or confirmed reservation and the daily Book Hub.

The library is here for you! We invite you to browse the portal and let us know of errors you find, programs and services you need. Thank you.
