Why: We want to help you find library resources -- e-books, journal articles, commentaries, citation manuals, etc. -- or just about anything!

 

How: Simply click the “Chat with a librarian” button on the Help Desk Page of the Library Portal to initiate a chat.  Chat sessions can also seamlessly transition to Zoom to facilitate communication and instruction.

Research and Study Week Library Hours and Services

Dear LPTS students,

Are you stressing about Research and Study Week? The EM White Library is here for you! In addition to the regular library hours, Burton, our new Public Services Librarian will be available via Chat from 5 pm to 10 pm Thursday – Sunday next week (Oct 22 – 25). Some things Burton can help you with are:

navigate the library website; gain access to quality online sources; format works cited pages and more. ·     

Research is difficult in the best of times, so don’t hesitate to reach out. Visit the library portal online Help Desk  and click on Chat with a Librarian. Or email library@lpts.edu to give Burton a heads up or set up a different time.

Syllabi for Online Learning

As we move into online learning, here is some new information to include on course syllabi:

1) Instructor's office hours, including virtual office hours, if any
2) Preferred method for reaching instructor, e.g., email, phone, text message
3) Maximum time frame for responding to student communications
4) Technological requirements, especially the minimum hardware and software needed
5) Contact information for IT / Online Learning Help
6) Procedure for resolving technical complaints
7) Information on Library Services for Online Learning

Safe Reopening Plans

Since April 2020, we have been planning for safe reopening. One thing is now certain: Library services will be provided in phases.

First Phase

In the first phase, in support of the Seminary’s online instruction, the library will continue digital services, including remote access, fully online Course and eTextbook Reserves, orientations, instruction, research consultations, and the Help Desk (library@lpts.edu). 

Continuing students who need printed books for their courses are encouraged to contact the Student Office which administers the CARES funds. Contact: Gina Kuzuoka. Student Assistance Funds to help with costs associated with learning  technology and access ($300 maximum) for all students are also available. Contact Jessica Bowman.

Fall Course and Textbook Reserves

Course Reserves for Fall

Course reserve readings will be made available in CAMS. There will be no print course reserves, only electronic. Out of an abundance of caution and care, faculty have been asked to submit all course reserves requests for the entire semester before Aug. 14th, 2020.

Textbook Reserves for Fall

The 2-hour in-building reserve of textbooks is a service that the Library will not be able to offer in the Fall. The quarantine period required for books is 4 days between users. Electronic textbook reserves are being explored using the Fall Book List that was submitted by Aug. 14, 2020.

Online Drop-in Office Hours starting Sept. 9

Dear Students,

I thought it may be helpful to share and highlight a new library service starting in Fall:  Online, Open, Drop-in Office Hours.

We will start with 3 days of the week during the lunch hour, M, W, and Th.  You can drop in to ask questions about library related matters. Bobi, Carolyn and I will take turns one day of the week each to be available in real time to help.
