We are approaching the 1-year anniversary of our school and Kentucky’s COVID19 #StayHealthyAtHome #WorkFromHome change. Thanks to the Holy One who is helping us co-create new lives, and has helped the library move into Phase 3 of our Safe and Responsible Reopening. I am grateful to the librarian team of Bobi Bilz, Burton Callicott, Jill Sherman, Ken Schuck, and the Facilities team of Tim Williams, David Thomas, and Bryant Carter. They have important roles in our successful and safe delivery of library services. I covet your prayers for continued safe reopening of our library, Seminary, and also, of course, the wide world of our often invisible yet, critically interdependent lives.
I thought it may be helpful to highlight the Responsible Reopening Phase 3 library services and hours that are available this week along with a few reminders.
About Phase 3: We regret the inconvenience but during Phase 3 the library is only for LPTS students, faculty, staff. LPTS alumni, local clergy, and the general public is welcome to watch this this blog as to when services may resume. Also, we are not accepting book donations unless the books are rare, valuable, or in pristine condition.
Update: March 1 – 6, our first week was busy, yet joyful. We welcomed students to Study Carrels, continued to loan books, and respond to your requests.
Communications: Librarians strive to respond as quickly as possible to requests, usually within 24 hours. However, requests received by email after 5 pm on Saturdays may not be answered until the following Monday. The library is closed on Sabbath, our Day of Rest.
Building Access: The library building remains closed. Only those with Study Carrel Reservations, and confirmed appointments for Reference Room Use are allowed in. Librarians and I continue working from the building; we have worked on campus since Aug. 3 with some exceptions like the Holidays and the Winter snowstorm closure. Facilities is following a daily disinfecting schedule.Book Hub: Borrowing of Print Books continues to be contact free but is now available daily. We encourage you to confirm the date and time as well before coming by to pick up.
Returning Library Materials: Please return books that are overdue and books that you no longer need to the Book Drop. The Book Drop is outside the main entrance to the library.
